Meet Joe Conway

Head Instructor  Joe Conway  - More Than Just a Martial Arts and a Karate Workout!

Mr. Conway has taught Kenpo for over 25 years and holds the rank of 5th Degree Black in the Kenpo 5.0 system. He received his Level 4 in Balintawak Arnis Stick Fighting System, directly tested by Grand Master Bobby Taboada. 

He also began his grappling training through Gokor Chivichyan’s Hayastan Fighting System 20 years ago and, more recently, has added training in the Gracie Combatives.

Joe is a member of the fictional cast of characters on You Tube’s hit series “Enter the Dojo.” Joe plays the role of Todd Woodland, Master Ken’s favorite Uke. “Enter the Dojo” is filmed on location here at ABQ-Karate.

Joe Conway believes in building a strong foundation of self discipline, self-esteem and respect that can be transferred to all the things you love to do – both outside of the dojo and during training!

Each class is filled with exciting, hi-energy, age-appropriate drills that have been carefully designed to build strength, stamina, and endurance, as well as develop important life skills. 

Meet Malachi Burnett

Instructor at ABQ-Karate in Albuquerque, NM

Malachi Burnett, 28, has been a practitioner of martial arts for 15 years, 10 of which have been as an instructor.

Mr. Burnett focuses on self discipline and self control aspects of Kenpo 5.0 - He likes to keep discipline while having fun during classes.

His hobbies include: video games, cartoons/animation, sweets, and being a kid with the kids.

Meet Brian Peyton

Instructor at ABQ-Karate in Albuquerque, NM

Mr. Peyton is an Albuquerque native and has been training in martial arts spanning 14 years. He has a green belt in Chinese Kenpo and is currently a 1st degree black belt in Jeff Speakman's Kenpo 5.0.

It's a family affair with three of his children who have also train at ABQ-Karate, two are ranked kids black belt and one is a 2nd beginning brown belt in JSK 5.0.

Brian works for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation for the past 19 years.

Meet Lois Castillo

Instructor at ABQ-Karate in Albuquerque, NM

Lois is a 74 year old grandmother of 2 and just loves Kenpo 5.0. She started at the age of 59. She is married to a wonderful supportive husband for 55 years.

She formerly worked as a teachers aide in the special aide department in the San Jose unified school district. She loves working with children and is the director of our "Little Dragons Program"

Meet Zach Burnett

Instructor at ABQ-Karate in Albuquerque, NM

Zach born and raised in Los Lunas, N.M. He graduated from the School of Dreams Academy where he took competitive dance for 5 years.

He has been training in Kenpo for 15 years and still going. He has been teaching Kenpo for 10 years.

He hold the rank of 1st degree Black Belt. His hobbies include: gaming, playing sports, and just having fun.
